Problem

I sought a creative outlet to stay sharp and keep up with the rapidly evolving state-of-the-art in creative technology.
As we entered a new era of AI supported creativity in late 2022/early 2023 - with the mass adoption of AI tools like ChatGPT - I wanted to create a way where I could learn, play with, and leverage a wide range of tools and methodologies from emerging AI and automation technologies.
I also wanted this project to provide a channel for me to personally showcase - and connect with - other people around the world that were centering creativity in their daily work and lives.
Goal+ parameters | a public-facing (weekly) deliverable that could sustain as a solo project (i.e. without a team behind it).

Solution

A globally collaborative digital "newsletter" designed and produced for contemporary creatives - published at Pop Rock Disco.

Deliverables

Key asset | a digital newsletter designed around four original features: Spotlight, Sharing, Showcase, and Sandbox (learn more about the PRD editorial format).

Full brand kit + style guide design | including logos, color palette, typography, brand voice, and communications/marketing collateral + templates

Robust editorial & production infrastructure | including workflow automation, AI production + processes, and UGC-centric content models

End-to-end site build + management | including top-to-bottom responsive design and build across all devices from desktop to mobile to VR

Digital marketing strategy + management | including, but not limited to, data-driven content models, channel promotions, audience experience design, influencer partnerships + campaigns, and brand activations

The experience | an incredibly rewarding creative experience of developing, building, and successfully launching Pop Rock Disco - a "carefully curated newsletter for contemporary creatives" - in 2 months from start to finish to a global audience of creatives

Results

Audience, Reach, and Effort | PRD officially went live to the public on August 14, 2023. It's current distribution reach averages 100k+/week with consistent week-on-week growth at approx. 10 hours/week of "work"
